Most of the reinforced liners are dated 1938,except one that was produced in zinc in 1938 and dated 1938 on a 62 DD SS helmet.
I bought on ebay last week a damaged but reinforced outer band reinforced dated 1937 coming from Kurland battlefields.
I believe that there are not strict parameter on ww2 and pre ww2.I was born in 1942 am still young and active and when the German retired passing on the main road, abandoned a huge quantity of supply, including helmets m24 smash potatoes, defused by my eldest brother that volunteered in the 4th Fasschirmiajer paratrooper Division at the age of16.The German abandoned a big cannon and a Solothurn flack complete 37 mms.So these things were my toys.At that ime my family fled to her mother farmhouse being a Fascist and that guerrilla wanted to murder. In October 1946 we moved to main city Bologna and still continue playing with helmsts. In a flea marked my first purchase of a complete helmet Luftwaffe chinstrap Berlin 1941,I do not remember
the maker so every friday I went to that flea market while on the way to school. Thanks for your time and congratulation for your site.RENATO FERRIANI ITALY
Hello Renato ,thank you for your message. Reinforced liner bands were produced from 1937 to 1943.
The 1937 ones are rare , 1938 , 1939 and 1940 ones are common. Zinc liner bands are only dated from 1940 to 1945. If yours is dated 1938 I would assume it is a single band alu one.
