CAMO KM you guys to Review

Hi Guys

I am posting this because thats what I have been taught to do by you guys! I made an offer on a Camouflage Kreigsmarine Helmet.  Im Irish and I just love the Green to be honest.  Before I pulled the trigger I wanted / needed a second opinion on Authenticity here for the 1) Camo and 2) the Decal.  Dealer who has been very helpful even took a closeup of the decal from his phone again and said I should post to the experts as well.  I guess I was getting hung up on why the most bottom part of the decal seems to missing (the bottom "prong" of the swastika - just a hair seems to be gone from wear?).  It should be of a EF Variety perhaps.  Maybe its just the rust or something.  I have poured over GHV and Franks examples and I am still stumped.  Perhaps I am just looking to hard.  Also the Hand painted Camo. The paint def looks period applied to me and  I have seen Light Sea Green KMs but nothing like this nor has the dealer ... Have you guys seen a dark deep Green like this let me know?  Appreciate having a place with you guys where I can post these questions! Just trying to be smart!

I saw this helmet so many times (people asked me opinions privately long ago) that becomes an old acquaintance for me now..lol.

The Huber Jordan should show the step as well. the construction of these type of decals was the same like the ET KM but they are less visible due to the grit paint.

The risk that this is a toned heer (since the ridge isn't visible from the pictures. of a note: i know who is selling it so i checked the website once again) is just around the corner, making this unusual tone a possible sign of an up grade of a heer.

All i can say is that the paint looks old and the wear legit; there are other stuff and equipment that were painted with not regular shades in North Europe.

the eagle looks "enough" gold, but i would ask other pictures as to reveal if there is indeed a ridge or not.

this is an odd ball, needless to say. an headscratcher so that's why it is still "on tour"

Forgot to add one thing: it is always safe to say that some "active rust" with an overpaint added is a good reason as to be careful before to go through any purchase.

Personally i wouldn't buy it. for the reason that it might be difficult to move one day if necessary.

An old friend 😂😂😂. Thank you Andrea for the in depth analysis. I was waiting for you 🙂 and I appreciate it

Ok. Awesome. Let me think on this.  I did see that this was a pretty close match to a EF KM. Just the swas + the rust made it look fatter to me for some reason. In addition ... I was able to negotiate a fairly lower price as well from what it was being offered. I included another high res zoom from his phone but I don’t know if it helps us further as still .... ridges aren’t visible to me

Armed with this knowledge. I will think about it. Understood about the Active Rust.  Have a great day!

The EF KM thin wing is my least favorite KM decal. Just because it is so difficult to get it right just on photos. The majority being extremely toned Heer.

If you buy online and you want a dead sure KM it's best to go for an ET in my opinion.

Couldn't agree more with Frank and Andrea on this one . . . just not enough positive evidence to say it's a 100% KM . . . so it would not be a helmet I would buy with that much doubt.

The paint over rust always concerns me.

And honestly . . . whilst KM's can be difficult to find . . . they are not uber-rare and they do pop up everyday.

For my "hard-earned" cash . . . I would wait for a better one-looker.

Thanks for your comments Michael!

I agree as well. Definitely not a sure shot by any means. Still has me hung up though ... has me scouring books and docs looking for coastal artillery and patrol boat photos.  Documentaries and things. It’s half the fun I am learning. And in my “weirdo” eyes ... it’s Def a unique / good looking Helm.

There's no question it is unique . . . but the hard part will alway be really knowing the truth about this helmet . . . it would certainly keep me up at night worrying about such a helmet.

Trust me when I say, if Andrea and Frank have concerns . . . that's enough to be sure that something isn't right . . . they've pretty much seen everything in this hobby
