Was that normal?

Also, would you be able to point me in the direction of how much they might be worth or any other examples of them?

Finally, I can't find any reliable guides on where to pinpoint markings on the inside of WWI German helmets. Do you know of any resources that would help me with that? I can't see anything on mine but if I know where to look it might help.

To answer your questions

Are you talking about the rivet I have circled in the photo below? These helmets are hard to find and an interesting chapter in the life of these helmets but I don't think they have much value. Especially in semi relic condition like this.

There should be a steel lot # stamp on the inside dome of the helmet. The maker and size stamping should be on the lower inside skirt (left side when wearing the helmet) where the chinstrap lug would be.

Again, the German helmet is an M18. Not an M16 as I incorrectly noted in my first post

Upload Files:Add another file ...Maximum files: 10 · Maximum file size: 10 MB · Allowed file types: jpg, jpeg, gif, png, bmp, pdfCancel Share this: Share on X (Opens in new window) X Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Like this:Like Loading...
