Chinstrap for evaluation

Quote

I acquired this not as an original.  It was very cheap and I thought it was interesting.  There is no black on the buckle portion of the leather.  It has the old smell.  What do you think?

I like it , buckle looks correct to me.

How unusual is it to find one side not dyed black (both sides brown) on chinstraps with steel hardware?

I agree, there is nothing that screams copy.

Not your usual strap..but some late (with RBnr)  were all brown

it’s very “new” but looks absolutely correct to me also. Great question about being all brown . . . but it appears Andrea has seen this before. Learnt something new

Here are a few of the strap portion that came with the buckle.  It has 13 holes and what appears to be dried leather conditioner in some of the holes.  It has the faintest smell of old leather also.  No marks visible.  The pages times out when uploading for me for some reason so I will post photos in a few batches.

The short buckle part of strap looks original

but the long part looks reproduction ..IMO

Thanks for the consideration and your time.  I knew they weren't a match to each other when I got them so there was a chance one or both were not authentic.  Both parts cost me $13 total, so I think it was worth it for the buckle part.
