M40? Need your help on identification
I thought this was a M40 but there are no markings or stamps on the inside of the helmet. Does anyone know what type of helmet this was and what it was used for?

I am also of the opinion this is an M40 shell attributed to the punched vent and rolled/folded edge. It looks like any markings may have been painted over and/or corroded away. M40s were combat helmets.
M40 with some postwar grey paint. It was a heer (army) you see remnants of a decal, a shield shape on the left.
