M42 SD Luftwaffe

Quote

I am a new person to the hobby and would like your thoughts on this one please

Does the worn surface detract from value/collectibility and views on all aspects paint, decal, chinstrap, liner, drawstring etc all appreciated as this would be my FIRST helmet purchase

I was looking for a A1 mint army or Luftwaffe SD or ND M40/42 but this looks a reasonable starter?

Thanks in advance

Looks good to me mate. Usually we put maker along with lot number in description :). An ET? Paint looks original as does the liner. Has a nice ET dotted eagle in my opinion. Seems to be a good one. Not a chinstrap hound so can’t verify the authenticity of that one. Wait for more opinions.

You all know who I am. 🤣 this is my description on it

A fine example of a Luftwaffe SD Combat helmet with a 98% intact Luftwaffe Adler decal. The helmet retains almost all of its original finish, with only a couple of high spots to the top (see photos), fortunately this does not detract from the great overall condition of this helmet. All pins are present and tight to the shell, impossible to see on a helmet with an unoriginal liner. Side skirt is lightly stamped ET62, the rear lot number is 2392, and the size of the liner is approximately 56 cms. The helmet comes complete with its original drawstring and supple black leather chinstrap, RB numbered.

It's an honest helmet , every helmet in similar condition will have other wear and scratches to consider. Most important is if what you see appeals to you as it needs to sit on your shelf.

Especially when that shelf is pretty close to your everyday desk. 🙂
