M42, strange liner

Yes, this is not a combat issue M31 liner. You would often see this liner system in civilian helmets which can be seen here: https://germanhelmetvault.com/civic-liners/

You can check the pins internally to see if washers are present and/or the prongs are bent.

Agree, looks like a civic liner was crammed into a combat liner band.
