Researchable KM M42 Helmet
Quote from mike190 on February 27, 2020, 8:14 pmHi.
I am new to the hobby and want to tread carefully thru the "minefield".
I am looking at a helmet on SS Steel at:
https://www.ss-steel-inc.com/product/researchable-km-m42-helmet/
and wonder if members can give me an idea if this helmet represents a good/safe buy.
thanks to all.

Quote from sysyphus on February 27, 2020, 10:11 pmHard to be sure it's indeed a KM. the decal is pretty damaged, we should need to see extra pics as to make out the step, a typical characteristic of the layered construction of such decals.
The helmet is original but is way too priced. broken leather other than well damaged decal as stated.

I have exactly the same opinion. From the photos provided it's not possible to determine it's a KM.
It's also no certainty you can research it.
I think you can find a nicer one for that money.

Quote from Paddyd00 on February 28, 2020, 5:20 amSlim Pickens out there for the Kriegsmarines right now mate. Trust me...I’ve been looking. Some very nice ... very expensive ones though in Europe. I’m waiting patiently until the right one “reveals” itself to me. I had to look that word up “Patience”. Ha. Good luck to you. Keep on the hunt.
PS : Frank and Andrea advertised “A Free Kriegs to All New Members” when I signed up. But I’m still waiting 🙁
Haha! Have a great night everyone.

Quote from Panzerheld on February 28, 2020, 9:18 pm. . . and one final thing to add . . . my research show that an M42 KM is one of the rarest helmets to find (if you can actually ever find one)
So this helmet in my humble opinion is an overpriced Toned Heer with absolutely zero chance of being researched.
SS-Steal does it again!
