Speaking of M42s
Any idea where this liner came from? The front of the lining with all the holes looks a tad out of place. And no, I haven't purchased it, but it's another LW M42. Second image is the decal.

Most likely that leather is out of a Bundeswehr helmet fitted into a WWII liner band. The decal is probably original but not much of it left to tell for sure. Nothing worth investing your money in with this helmet.

Thanks for the ongoing education. A bit of google searching confirmed what you said about it being from a Bundeswher helmet. Images showed those holes in the forehead area.
That's why I keep asking questions 🙂
