OK, what do you seasoned collectors think of this one? Me, a rank newbie, thinks it is probably 1) authentic, and; 2) about as nice as they come (except for the liner)???. Please don't be shy, go ahead and set me straight...

It is white and worn like a bunch of other white painted helmets. For me based on these photos it is far from a one looker.
I do not see the base paint in the scratches , I find the wear in some places weird like on one of the front rivets.
And very important is getting a good look at the decal area. But the photo is insufficient.
Been cleaned not saying rubbed. even if it had a chance to be good now is impossible to say it. Let's keep in mind that many were painted (thus legit old paint but not german made) just after the war
Thank you both for the sobering assessment. My enthusiasm is appropriately curbed.
Yeah I agree with the above, also look how the edges of the split pins are very shiny and bright whereas on other areas where bare metal is exposed (vent holes and the edge) the metal has darkened and turned brown with age.
