Liner is by B&amp;C and is dated 1943. It’s a little tatty now but it’s all there along with (I think) the original string. At one point it’s been named to the liner but it’s pretty illegible now. The split pins and washers are untouched and all 3 pins are super tight.

It has a fair amount of the 40 spec thick textured paint remaining but the paint and decal have seen plenty of wear. The paint to the inside seems smoother than that on the outside.

The numbers to the shell are lightly stamped and a previous owner (not me, I promise) has scraped away the thick paint to reveal them. It’s a shame but it can’t be undone now.

It has original chin strap with RB Nr 0/0390/0204. The strap has been treated by the previous owner making it a bit greasy feeling. Fortunately he didn’t treat the liner.

It’s not the best helmet I have but I like it a lot and, apart from the treatment to the strap and the scraping away of the paint around the numbers, it seems to be un-messed with in the intervening years.

I'd be interested in your views/ comments.

Also, I’ve got a new light box too – what do you think?
