That is exactly what I am afraid of. I did not know how the decal or lacquer close the decal will react with acetone and that why I did not wipe any closer . Left a narrow “barrier” around the decal edges as can be seen.

I will stop here as recommended and the decal can have that “lacquer protection”. Hey that is a great explanation for it 😝

Anyhow the helmet is now much better than with greenish lacquer coat. Color change was rather huge 🙂

It's a shame it is like this. What you could do is (very carefully) apply the acetone a bit closer to the decal in places. Then it would look like the lacquer that was applied to some decals. You will have to be careful though and not get too close to the decal - use a cotton bud / Q-tip.
