+1 , helmets like these do not require any treatment. It will degenerate now that you will keep it in a normal environment.
If the rivets are not of this helmet I would take them out and display it as is. I prefer them as found instead of restored myself.

I talked with the seller and only thing he knew was that he bought the helmet 30-40 years ago from a second hand store and it has been in his garage ever since. So end of trace. I asked also about the rivets and he has not added those to this helmet. I will leave them in place too.
I will soon post another SS helmet as soon as I get the photos. I was 95% sure this was fake, so next one I would rate 97% sure it is fake 😀
